We have all tried to break a bad habit, with varying degrees of success.

I frequently have clients ask me why they find themselves unable to accomplish seemingly simple goals and objectives through willpower. They really desire these goals, they are willing to take the necessary steps to reach them. But alas, they find themselves sliding back into their old habits and patterns.  My response is to explain that acceptance of any new habit pattern requires the cooperation of your subconscious mind. Otherwise the decision made by your conscious mind to make the desired change is undermined by your own subconscious mind.

Say what?? That’s right. It is your subconscious mind that runs your behaviors. These behaviors were developed by your beliefs. The subconscious holds your beliefs and these beliefs run over 95% of your daily habits and patterns.

What are beliefs? A belief is something you have chosen as truth or as your reality – whether it is or not. Now why would you accept it as true if it’s not? Because 95% of all of your beliefs, 95% of who you are right now as an adult, what you think you can achieve, both professionally and personally, 95% of all those beliefs were accepted by age 8. To make matters worse, these were not based on truth, They were based on what the important people in your life believed, your caregivers, parents, teachers, or other significant adults in your life. This is because at that young age, you didn’t have the filters in place, to reject what was their belief, not necessarily your belief. Your conscious mind was not developed at this young age.

The most effective way to obtain the cooperation of your subconscious is….Hypnosis!

So what exactly what is hypnosis? Hypnosis is a natural occurring state of mind. We enter into this naturally occurring light hypnotic state hundreds of times a day. Every time we become engrossed in a novel, motion picture, song etc., we are in a natural hypnotic trance. Have you ever driven somewhere, arrived at your destination and not remember driving there. That is habit at work. This hypnotic state occurs normally in everyday living much more often than it is induced artificially. Your Hypnotist simply guides you to this hypnotic state to where your subconscious mind is now open to suggestions.

Advertisers and marketers know this and capitalize on it. This is why when you see a commercial for food when watching TV, you find yourself getting up and standing in front of your refrigerator door looking for something to eat. Habits are formed through repetition. In fact, performing an action over and over again actually causes the neurons in our brain to create the programmed pathways that enable us to automate most of our behaviors. It’s a simple conditioning system that causes us to perform certain actions when we’re given a stimulus or trigger until those actions become automated. Hence the reason you will see the same commercial over and over. The more often you respond by going to stand in front of the refrigerator, the stronger you are making that neuro-pathway in your brain until you get to the point where you feel “I just can’t help it, I can’t stop doing that even though I know I shouldn’t.”

So, if you are ready to make changes now, you can do it ONCE AND FOR ALL by utilizing hypnosis to reprogram your subconscious mind to achieve your positive conscious goals without your subconscious sabotaging you. Instead get your subconscious to work for you instead of against you.
