Thank you for visiting! The fact that you’re here tells us you’re curious about working with us—and we’re excited to connect with you. Imagine working in a place where your role isn’t just about a paycheck, but about purpose, growth, and a genuine sense of belonging.
At our practice, we don’t just prioritize clients—we prioritize you. Whether you’re an intern just beginning your journey or a seasoned professional seeking a new path, we believe in fostering an environment where both your personal and professional well-being come first.
Our practice focuses on the following three areas:
- Client Care – Connecting future clients to a clinician that’s a good fit as well as offering services and programs that clients need
- Community care – We actively engage with our community through volunteering, presentations at schools, doctor’s offices, and other organizations, and by listening to what our community really needs.
- Employee care – We champion self-care and your long-term career goals, ensuring that your growth is just as important as the care you provide.
We are always open to conversations or dialogue with clinicians who feel curious about whether our practice might be a good fit for their next chapter.
We invite you to explore our website and get a feel for who we are. You will quickly notice that we serve a wide range of clients and offer many different services across our community. That variety allows clinicians to lean into their strengths, follow their interests, and grow in ways that feel meaningful rather than boxed in.
At Step By Step Counseling, clinicians are valued as people, not just providers. We are intentional about helping each clinician build a caseload that fits their skills, passions, and long-term goals. When a client is not the right match for someone on our team, we prioritize ethical referrals and collaboration with trusted community partners. That means clinicians are supported in doing what is clinically right, not pressured to make something work that does not.
Our clinicians work with autonomy while also having access to consultation, shared knowledge, and a supportive professional community. You are never practicing in isolation here, even when you are working independently.
Whether you are early in your career or a seasoned clinician looking for a practice that feels more aligned, we would love to connect. Our goal is to build a clinical team that reflects the diversity of the world we serve. We actively encourage clinicians from marginalized communities, including clinicians of color and LGBTQIA+ clinicians, to apply.
If you are looking for a place where your work is respected, your growth is supported, and your voice matters, we welcome the conversation.
We strive to be authentic, avoiding the idea of being pretentious. Our practice culture is not defined by the industry’s highest salaries, the most beautiful office, fancy water deliveries, or where someone went to graduate school. We are not trying to compete with other practices or other agencies. Why compete when we can work alongside other professionals to build our community up? Our owner regularly meets with other group practice owners, to share resources, and referrals and share continuing education opportunities. Ultimately, it’s important to find the right fit, both for the employee and for the practice.
Forget flashy perks and pretentious titles. What sets us apart is the heart of our culture—a commitment to authenticity, sustainability, and collaboration. Here’s what you can expect:
- We believe in continuous education. Whether you’re seeking certifications, advanced training, or new clinical challenges. We want our employees to be challenged; and proud of themselves and what they have accomplished.
- Being available when an employee needs to staff a case or has a client crisis they need help navigating. We want our employees to have consultation groups, and a leadership team to provide case consults with.
- Not publicly shaming an employee when they make a mistake, instead of looking for ways to fix/mend issues in the here & now and avoid issues in the future. Mistakes are learning opportunities. We prioritize constructive solutions, so issues are fixed and avoided in the future, without shame or judgment.
- Focusing on the needs of the client and clinician, not the practice’s bottom line.
- Provide resources both in print, through our intranet and in our Pathways to Play – so that employees have the tools they need to be successful in their clinical work.
- Connecting & supporting others in the community at neighboring counseling practices/agencies and schools
- Promoting collaboration and support vs isolation and competitiveness among professionals
- Sustainability is important. We make tough decisions to keep the practice running, but why? Clinicians are encouraged to speak to the owners about those questions. Transparency is paramount.
