Meet Tammie!

Tammie is a Provisionally Licensed Marital and Family Therapist under the supervision of Kate Schwenke & Angela Skurtu. She works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are navigating emotional challenges, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. She believes meaningful change begins when people feel safe enough to be honest about what they are experiencing without fear of judgment. She strives to create a warm, supportive space where clients can slow down, better understand the emotions and patterns beneath their reactions, and approach themselves and others with compassion and curiosity.

Tammie takes a conversational, collaborative, and down-to-earth approach to therapy. She meets clients where they are while also gently challenging patterns that may be keeping them feeling stuck. Together, she helps clients explore what is happening beneath difficult emotions and reactions, recognize recurring patterns in themselves and their relationships, and develop practical tools they can use outside of the therapy room.

She works with individuals, couples, and families navigating concerns such as anxiety and emotional overwhelm, depression, grief and loss, trauma and PTSD, life transitions, self-esteem and identity concerns, parenting challenges, relationship conflict, communication difficulties, and emotional disconnection. Tammie is especially passionate about supporting couples and families as they work to better understand one another, break unhealthy patterns, repair relationships, and build stronger, more connected relationships.

Tammie integrates a variety of approaches based on the unique needs and goals of each client, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy and related approaches, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, and Art Therapy. She also incorporates creative and experiential approaches when they are a good fit for the client and their therapeutic goals.

She is particularly well-suited for individuals, couples, and families experiencing recurring conflict, communication difficulties, emotional disconnection, attachment and relationship concerns, parenting or co-parenting challenges, family transitions, and relationship repair. She is a great fit for clients who want to better understand the emotions and relationship patterns underneath their struggles and are open to actively working toward meaningful change.

Clients working with Tammie can expect a space where they can be themselves without feeling judged. She balances compassion and validation with gentle challenges, honest conversations, and practical tools to help clients not only better understand what they are experiencing, but also feel empowered to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives and relationships.
