Meet Lauren! Lauren Patterson is a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor supervised by Rebecca Lazlier and a child & adolescent therapist with Step By Step Counseling. She enjoys working with ages 3-17. Lauren enjoys working with children & adolescents providing crisis intervention, psychoeducation and weekly counseling services. When asked, she states that she has pursued a career in counseling working with children and adolescents by her desire to empower, support, equip, champion and commitment to youth in our community.
Lauren has experience providing strengths based care, actively collaborating with school staff, caseworkers, pediatricians, psychiatrists and outside resources to best meet the needs of the clients she works with. She has been an active member of multi-disciplinary teams in treatment planning. She also has experience in screening for suicidal ideation, and collaboratively creating safety plans with clients.
Many of her past clents have experienced trauma and suffer from multiple mental health diagnosis. She has experience in and uses Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), play therapy, mindfulness, mind/body work, sandtray therapy and art therapy when working with her clients to meet their social and emotional goals.
